A swimmer's stirrup

01 Apr 2005

Engineered as a portable boarding device for shallow draft boats, American company Davis Instruments says its Swim Stirrup provides safe and simple access to ski boats, rowboats, dinghies, sailboats and other shallow-draft boats.

They say swimmers and skiers can easily grab the floating Swim Stirrup and pull themselves up and over a boat's side. The swim step also makes an excellent safety device and can support up to 136kgs.

The device can be installed on fibreglass, wood and aluminium boats.

Its deck cleat attaches to a boat's gunwale, transom or bow and the stirrup's length can be adjusted to fit the freeboard of the boat.
