Online berthing could boost profit by 15%

01 Nov 2011

If boat owners with permanent berths could be incentivised to let the marinas know their plans, both parties could benefit.

Now, a new web-based booking system that has attracted over £100,000 of investment to develop promises to help marinas better manage their empty berths and optimise their bookings via a single centralised online system.

The Waypoint (thewaypoint.com), which went live on Monday 7 December 2010, gave marinas the ability to automatically post temporary berth vacancies at non-visitor moorings.

Marinas using the system can advertise berth vacancies in real time, automate transaction processes with personalised client accounts and improve permanent occupancy. They can also capitalise on visitor enquiries 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as The Waypoint accepts payments online, perfect for visiting yachtsmen who may be looking for a last minute spot to moor up, but need leave with the morning tide before the marina office opens.
