Technician Laminator

28 Jul 2017

A fantastic opportunity has arisen here at The All-weather Lifeboat Centre (ALC) in Poole. We are looking for a skilled Laminator to join our growing team.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a charity that provides, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service and a seasonal lifeguard service.  Our lifeboat crews and lifeguards need a dedicated, professional and talented team behind them.

This is an exciting time for the RNLI as we have recently completed the building of our own lifeboat manufacturing facility in Poole. Our vision is to create a centre of engineering excellence in lifeboat construction, refit and maintenance. This includes the in-house production of the Shannon Class Lifeboat, our most advanced all-weather lifeboat to date, which will ensure crews reach incidents faster, thereby saving more lives at sea.

As a Technician Laminator you will be responsible for the construction, installation, modification and repair/maintenance of marine structures and equipment for all classes of Lifeboat.

You must be able to work to Engineering drawings and standardised work, safely and efficiently. You will be working as a member of a multi-disciplined team ensuring that lifeboats are built on time and within budget, meeting the RNLI’s stringent quality standards.

It is essential you have relevant City and Guilds or NVQ level 3/BTEC qualifications, time served apprenticeship or equivalent experience.

Experience of working with epoxy composite materials (including pre-preg.), vacuum consolidation techniques and oven curing is desirable.

Come and join us in the build of this centre of excellence and help save lives at sea.
