  • Weymouth Council blocks Olympic plans

    OLYMPICS: Back in January, Portland Port was considering calling for a public enquiry into its plans for a major Olympic development to force the issue with the only remaining objector to the proposals – Dorset County Council.  

  • Hanse acquires Dehler brand

    ACQUISITION: The contract negotiations for HanseYachts AG to acquire the Dehler brand - as well as the necessary assets at Freienohl - have been successfully concluded.  

  • Former IWA chairman receives OBE

    AWARD: John Fletcher, former national chairman of the Inland Waterways Association (IWA) has been recognised with an OBE for services to the inland waterways.  

  • Marine Industry Regatta – aiming at 20 boats

    REGATTA: This year marks the 6th Marine Industry Regatta, which takes place on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 July 2009. The last five years really have been great fun and we're looking forward to seeing many new and familiar faces at this year's event.  

  • Record visitors at 4th South Wales Boat Show

    BOAT SHOW: On Friday 12 June the managing director of National Boat Shows (NBS), Andrew Williams, officially opened the fourth South Wales Boat Show – which went on to attract a record breaking 15,028 visitors over the three day annual event at Margam Park near Port Talbot.

  • P&M acquires Complete Freight

    ACQUISITION: Peters & May has acquired the UK-based performance yacht and motorboat logistics provider Complete Freight. The company and its directors, Angus Bruce Jones and Simon Judson, together with their staff, will become wholly absorbed into the Peters & May global operation.  

  • Raymarine looking for funds or outright sale

    BAILING OUT?: Raymarine says it’s trying to raise funds to stay in business, or looking for an outright sale of the business. The news came in a statement issued on Friday 12 June.  

  • BMF past president gets OBE

    OBE: Peter Methven, past president of the British Marine Federation (BMF), has been awarded an OBE for services to the marine industry in Her Majesty The Queen’s Birthday Honours.  

  • Princess to build big boats in Devonport

    ACQUISITION: Princess has signed the lease for a 15 acre (six hectare) waterfront site at South Yard, Plymouth. Part of the famous Devonport Naval base, this facility has been acquired to enable Princess to start building its new range of large yachts.
