The Marine Industry Regatta moves back to its April dates for this year’s event and has attracted 12 boats – two more than last year’s event, which saw 10 come to the line. And there’s still room for more…
REGATTA: The Marine Industry Regatta runs on April 20 and 21 this year. We collect the boats late afternoon on Tuesday April 20, then race (four races, weather permitting) on Wednesday April 21.
This year’s event has attracted 12 boats – two more than last year’s event – and the runners and riders are currently Barton Marine/Navimo, Boating Business, BMF, Bruntons Propellers, Cooney Marine, Halyard/ADPR, International Paint, Icom, IPC, Seldén, Sunsail 1 and Sunsail 2.
There’s still time to book a boat for the event – contact details below. And, as with the winning Barton/Navimo entry last year (back again this year) and the Halyard/ADPR entry this year, combined entries are welcome.
If you’re looking for another company to help spread the cost, let us know.
We have a new trophy this year – sponsored by Cooney Marine - for the best placed boat with a minimum of two first-time sailors on board. Because we want to get as many new people out on the water we can.
If you’re worried about whether you can get an experienced crew together, Sunsail has professional skippers who can help you out.
The cost this year is £885.00 including VAT, plus a £100 donation to the event’s charity, the John Merricks Sailing Trust (JMST).
The £885.00 covers the cost of the bare boat charter; the cost of the Tuesday evening supper for eight crew (including a couple of pitchers of beer per boat); Wednesday morning’s bacon rolls; a packed lunch for eight crew during the racing; all race administration; tea and buns after the event; prizes and the prizegiving.
At £985.00 including VAT for the event, that’s not bad value for money for eight people.
We race in Sunsail’s Port Solent-based fleet of Jeanneau Sun Fast 37s. The start area is near Gilkicker Point in the eastern Solent.
The prizegiving starts half an hour after all the boats are back, which means the prizegiving is generally around 17.00ish, so everyone can get away by 18.00ish.
