Zhik is introducing a new edition of its ZKG watersports shoes for 2018.

The sneaker-style shoes incorporate a new, quick-drying mesh inner and outer fabric containing an integrated stretchy neoprene upper with more and larger perforations for maximum air flow and water drainage.

“Designed to be as happy below water as above, they are easy to wash and dry,” explained Tom Hussey, research and development manager. “And for those with old fashioned concepts of neoprene footwear the inner shoe has an anti-bacterial treatment too.”

The shoes have a stiffer midsole and moulded heel cup for added support and have also been made lighter than the original ZKG.

The high grip, non-marking proprietary ZK soles are soft and flexible and designed to expel water upon contact with any deck surface.

“The limpet-like grip makes the ZKG the shoe of choice for active crew work on any type of moving deck surface, from high gloss varnish to GRP decks with no deck grip,” added Bart Milczarczyk, global head of design.

Staying with footwear, Zhik has also introduced several new socks to its range.

The new waterproof sock adds another thin layer of waterproofness to the Zhik Seaboot range.

It is made from a three-layer stretch fabric that is water repellent and breathable.

“The sock fits comfortably inside the boot and easily takes form as a second skin by utilising the extra grip detail implemented on sole,” explained Mr Milczarczyk.

Fully seam-taped ensure additional waterproof protection.

Other new socks from Zhik include its offshore sock, designed with longer stints above deck in mind and its merino blend sock.

“Targeted mesh panels are used for breathability in a seamless construction,” said Mr Hussey. “Anti-odour technology in the offshore sock ensures the sock can be worn multiple times before cleaning without become anti-social.”

He added: “The merino blend is designed as a go-to daily protective layer on deck, spanning a range of warmer to mid-range temperatures.”
