FINANCIALS: Groupe Beneteau says it expects the global boating market to drop 20% in the 2011/12 financial year. It also forecasts Groupe Beneteau’s total boat sales will drop 10.7% to €620m.
The group will, however, see growth of around 3.5% in its outdoor accommodation sector, brought about after the first year of mobile home production in Italy and the relevance of wooden frame accommodation for residential housing.
The group’s consolidated sales for 2011/12 are estimated to be 7.2% down at €855m down.
“For the boat business, 2011/12 is expected to be marked by significantly different trends depending on the markets, with the European region penalised by the climate of unease seen this autumn-winter, during the main period for taking orders," says the company. "This unprecedented situation is expected to temporarily have an adverse impact on the group’s business."
But Beneteau says the future looks bright and the group expects to achieve combined sales growth of 50% over 2012, climbing to €100m. This is due to the contributions by the powerboat businesses in North and South America, as well as Asia, and the success of Monte Carlo Yachts and Prestige Yachts.
