Three types of PSS Seal are available
Seaview Progress will highlight the Packless Sealing System shaft seal on its stand at Seawork.
The company has supplied the PSS Seal to military, coast guard, police and fire boats around the world for more than 20 years and says the professionals that design, build and maintain these vessels recognise its advantages.
Three types of seal are available - Type A, Type B and PSS Pro for shaft sizes ranging from 20mm to 150 mm.
The system creates a mechanical face seal between a rotating stainless-steel rotor and a stationary carbon stator explained Seaview Progress UK sales manager Simon Wood.
The carbon stator is attached to a convoluted rubber bellow and the back of the bellow is attached to the shaft log with hose clips.
“The compensation of the bellow allows the seal faces to remain in constant contact while compensating for the fore-and-aft movement of the shaft,” said Simon.
A static o-ring rotates with the shaft and rotor and this o-ring enables the PSS shaft seal to be fitted on shafts that have some wear or water pitting.
“This type of carbon face seal is not as sensate to interruption of water flow or operation in silly water when compared to other sealing options,” added Simon.
The seal is Bureau Veritas, ABS and RINA certified.
Seaview Progress will be on stand PO35.
