Garmin has announced two new additions to its marine communication product line-up: the AIS 800 transceiver with Class B/SO and the VHF 315i marine radio with Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC).

Both systems compliment the latest Garmin GPSMAP chartplotters and MFDs and are NMEA 2000 certified to make installation and integration into a Garmin system quick and easy.

The new AIS 800 transceiver has five watts of transmit power with Class B/SO and provides faster position reporting than ever before.

It receives AIS target data while transmitting a vessel’s information to other AIS receivers in the area.

Built-in GPS

The product includes built-in GPS - with connector for optional external antenna - and integrates into a Garmin onboard system.

It has an internal VHF antenna splitter that allows VHF and AIS to share a single antenna.

The transceiver also has NMEA 2000 connectivity for easy integration with compatible chartplotters and multifunction displays.

The 25-watt VHF 315i marine radio with Class D DSC is a reliable modular communication solution.

Integration

The radio also has NMEA 2000 connectivity and again integrates into a Garmin onboard system, other compatible chartplotters, MFDs and software updates.

The VHF 315i features optional GPS – an external GPS antenna is required - and also includes Garmin’s GHS 11i handset and new active speaker to use as an intercom between up to three stations.

Garmin will be on stand PG62 at Seawork.
