AWARDS: The chairman of the trustees at Cowes-based charity UKSA was awarded the MBE in the recent 2010 Queen's Birthday Honours list.
David Lister, nephew of the charity's founder Noel Lister, received the honour for voluntary services to young people in recognition of his efforts in changing the lives of hundreds of young people through the UKSA.
Mr Lister became involved with the UKSA after coaching the British rowing squad in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and joined the charity's Board of Trustees in 1995. His efforts on behalf of the young people who use the UKSA's services led to him becoming chairman in 2005 and he continues to help change the lives of deserving youngsters from across the country.
'I am hugely honoured to be recognised for my work with the UKSA, but the award is also a reflection on the charity itself and on all the people I have worked with over the years who constantly strive to improve the lives of young people,' said Mr Lister.
