Pendennis undertakes refit of ex-Cinderella IV
Pendennis Shipyard is enjoying its busiest winter season in its 30-year history with 11 yachts undergoing refit and a new build.
One of the projects is a nine-month refit to the performance sailing sloop ex-Cinderella IV under its new name G2.
Originally designed by Tripp Design as a carbon fibre, lifting-keel sailing yacht, Cinderella IV’s vertical bow and windows presented both a classic and modern look, but a cleaner, sleeker appearance is being sought by the new owner, represented by Cornelsen & Partner’s Benjamin Stitt.
At Pendennis’ Falmouth shipyard, structural restyling by Tripp Design will see the exterior aft classic cuddy cabin removed to create a large social space suited for outdoor living in warmer locations.
The addition of a large glass skylight aims to flood G2’s pilothouse with natural light, highlighting the modernised, minimalist interiors designed by Milan-based Nauta Design.
To facilitate modern open plan living, Nauta’s new design, which uses natural woods, has opened up the main salon with ‘zones’ that allow different social uses. A more spacious feel has been created in the owner’s cabin through the repositioning of a bulkhead further aft.
Modern and reliable technical, navigational, communications and sailing systems will be fitted by Pendennis’ engineering team.
G2 is due to be relaunched in June at which point she will undertake extensive sea and sail trials before departing for the Mediterranean in July.
