New Garmin Fantom radars
Garmin has launched its Fantom 54/56 and Fantom 124/126 radars which offer 50W and 120W of power output respectively.
The radars include MotionScope Doppler technology to allow mariners to see targets moving instantaneously and their increased power means the new series offers improved detection range with more precision and target separation at both close and long-ranges in a solid-state solution.
“More power means more consistent target positioning, excellent target separation and unprecedented close and long-range target detection for a clear, concise image of the shoreline, other vessels, flocks of birds and impending weather,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin's vice president of worldwide sales.
Pulse compression technology means the radars can provide high resolution while maximising energy on targets to enhance detection and identification of targets. Pulse expansion can then maximise target size to help differentiate real targets from noise.
Garmin has also announced that two marine satellite TV antenna systems made by KVH Industries will now be available as part of a Garmin marine network package.
GTV5 (45 cm/18 in diameter) and GTV6 (60 cm/24 in diameter) are designed to offer high-performance tracking and reception and fast satellite acquisition regardless of sea conditions.
KVH’s exclusive RingFireTM technology is designed to provide stronger signals, wider geographic coverage and better reception. KVH’s IP-enabled TV-Hub is also included with every system to deliver easy setup and operation.
