New Garmin OneHelm and chartplotters
Garmin has launched the GPSMAP 1222 and GPSMAP 1222xsv chartplotters.
Both with a 12in touchscreen display, they feature built-in wireless connectivity for the ActiveCaptain app, VIRB action camera integration and a built-in 10Hz GPS/GLONASS receiver for smooth on-screen navigation. The XSV chartplotter/sonar combo model has built-in support for single channel CHIRP sonar, CHIRP ClearVü and CHIRP SideVü scanning sonar and Panoptix.
“These new GPSMAPs are designed for the budget-conscious customer who desires premium features typically found only in a higher-end product,” said Dan Bartel, vice president of worldwide sales at Garmin. “We’ve packed these plotters with industry-leading features and built-in conveniences to offer something for every boater.”
Also new is OneHelm, which enables onboard boat systems like digital switching, lighting and stabilisation to be controlled by a Garmin multifunction display.
It is designed to make the boating experience more automated and fluent at the helm, while also eliminating the need for multiple control displays and devices.
Garmin’s Reactor 40 corepacks are now being sold without the GHC 20 marine autopilot control unit, offering more installation flexibility, while saving space. The Reactor autopilot can be controlled through the Garmin chart plotters.
Products without the units include the Reactor 40 hydraulic autopilot; Reactor 40 mechanical/retrofit/solenoid corepack; Reactor 40 hydraulic corepack with SmartPump; Reactor 40 steer-by-wire standard corepack; Reactor 40 steer-by-wire corepack for Yamaha and Reactor 40 steer-by-wire corepack for Volvo-Penta.
