Paints are distributed into the UK for the first time
Nyalic was originally developed for NASA. Now the product is available as a top coat for the UK’s marine market.
The product is a self-levelling coating that dries hard yet remains flexible, explained Peter Harrison, head of UK distributor Ocean Footprint.
“It can be painted on top of a paint coating to provide a finish similar to a two-pack system, but also can be pained onto a polished metal surface and will work in the same way,” he said. “It can be touched up if scratched easily and will once again self-level and provide an ‘as new’ finish.”
The coating is resistant to corrosion, impermeable, blocks moisture and air reaching the surface, will not crack or peel, is impact resistant and will not chip, Mr Harrison added.
Ocean Footprint is also distributing Sea Hawk paints into the UK for the first time.
“Long gone are the days of the old-fashioned antifoul job,” said Mr Harrison. “With Sea Hawk paints, advanced hull protection takes on a whole new level of sophistication.”
Products include TUFF STUFF, a low VOC high-build two-part epoxy primer with Microsheet Silicate technology to create an overlapping barrier to eliminate any direct path for water migration.
Another Sea Hawk product available from Ocean Footprint is Biocop TF dual-biocide coating that can be used over TUFF STUFF.
“Biocop TF employs Sea Hawk proprietary PL3 technology for controlled release antifouling protection over multiple seasons,” explained Mr Harrison.
The product is Lloyd’s Registry certified and available in seven colours.
When soft growth is not a concern, Cukote semi-hard, self-polishing ablative or AF-33 harder, self-polishing ablative both deliver multi-season longevity.
Sea Hawk’s copper-based antifoulings can also be boosted with Biocop TF slime reducing additive.
Alternatively, Sea Hawk Monterey semi-hard ablative finish bonds with TUFF to deliver a high concentration cuprous oxide antifouling protection in a water-based low VOC coating that cleans with soap and water.
