The family owners of Waveney River Centre in South Norfolk have scooped another environmental plaudit, winning Practical Boat Owner magazine’s Green Award for Marine Service & Support.
GREEN AWARD: Waveney River Centre, a holiday park and marina on the Norfolk Broads, has won Practical Boat Owner's Green Award for Marine Service & Support.
The centre promotes sustainability through energy efficiency, recycling, water conservation and customer education. It also has numerous environmental policy initiatives and, as a business, saves money through energy efficiency and cutting waste.
‘Our green awards are a showcase for the innovative work being done by boating companies to reduce their impact on the environment,’ said PBO editor Sarah Norbury. ‘Waveney River Centre shows us that small changes in a workplace can add up to big results.’
Last year, the Waveney River Centre was awarded David Bellamy’s coveted Gold Conservation Award in addition to 4 Gold Anchors by the Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA).
Since taking over the Waveney River Centre six years ago, Ruth and James Knight have embarked on a series of initiatives designed to encourage flora and fauna and reduce the carbon footprint of their business.
