Castle Marinas has acquired the historic Dinorwic Marina
The south coast-based Castle Marinas Group, which owns five inland and two coastal marines, has embarked on a new phase of expansion of their marinas portfolio with the acquisition of the historic Port Dinorwic marina.
MARINAS: The historic Port Dinorwic (Y Felinheli) in the Menai Strait, has been acquired by Castle Marinas, becoming the company’s eighth marina.
Accessed through a lock, Dinorwic provides very sheltered berthing in what were the old slate docks, or in the adjacent tidal basin. The marina has full facilities including fuelling and a boatyard complete with a 20 tonne crane. There is also boat storage space ashore and ample customer parking. A pub-restaurant is located in the marina with shops, other amenities and more pubs and restaurants in the adjacent village.
‘Castle Marinas will preserve the existing charm and character of this fine marina and will ensure that its well-deserved reputation for good customer service continues,’ said Sam Bourne, operations director for Castle Marinas. ‘Steve McWilliams and Myreta Parry, who currently manage the marina, will carry on with their responsibilities, working within the Castle Marinas Group.’
Castle owns five inland and two coastal marinas, which include Birdham Pool in Chichester Harbour and Royal Clarence at Gosport in Portsmouth Harbour. The acquisition of Dinorwic marina marks a new phase of growth for Castle Marinas which plans to expand the group both inland and on the coast over the next few years.
