Technical Marine Supplies sees sales strengthen for EFTE solar panels
Technical Marine Supplies (TMS) provides a plethora of marine equipment to clients in both trade and manufacturing working with a number of manufacturers with strong environmental credentials in the solar power and wind generating sector, including Watt and Sea and Silentwind.
TMS sales manager Tim Parsons has identified a number of trends and developments for the coming season, as he explains: “Although there is nothing ground breaking in our renewable products for 2017 we have seen refinements and incremental improvements.”
In the field of wind generators, Mr Parsons identifies that a good deal of thought and development has gone into improving the way in which the products are installed and mounted.
“Manufacturers have worked hard on this area of development. The key factor here is that these refinements are easier and more cost effective as they can be fitted out of the box rather than having to get everything fabricated as a one off.
“We have seen this with both Watt & Sea and SIlentwind bringing out universal transom brackets and pole systems respectively.”
Mr Parsons also identified that the market in solar panels also remains relatively static but identifies the latest trend is a move toward ETFE panels which feature a coating of ETFE, a fluorine based plastic that provides extra strength and protection for a panel.
“The costs of these ETFE panels has come down slightly, making them quite similar to the standard monocrystalline panel now,” he explained: “That has naturally had the effect of increasing the demand and popularity.”
