Dek-King is used on ‘flying' yacht
Synthetic decking provider, Dek-King reports interest in its product and distribution network has grown significantly over the last 12 months - something the firm was always confident would happen.
“The expanding market for bespoke design, custom colours and logos means more people are opting for a high-quality alternative to wooden teak,” says joint managing director, Chris Berry. “The interest really is global and something we have seen first-hand at and around this year’s biggest boat shows in London, Dusseldorf and Dubai.”
Following the recent increase in high performance foiling boats, Dek-King was asked by Enata Marine to supply decking and fabricate The Foiler, the star of the Dubai boat show. Aptly nicknamed ‘the flying yacht’, The Foiler can glide 1.5m above the water at 40 knots.
“Enata was clear in its specifications,” explains Chris, “a light-weight deck in synthetic teak that offered a premium finish.
“We worked closely with Enata and weathered 2G Dek-King with black caulking was selected, providing a deck that complemented the bullet grey exterior of the power yacht, in sharp contrast to the red hydrofoils.
“The finish truly is a breath-taking combination of design and technology.”
Chris continues: “Whilst we enjoy the thrill of an exciting cutting-edge project, we still appreciate the timeless look of a traditional deck.
“The classic teak look is still an ever-popular choice for customers who are looking to maintain their decks to an original standard, something we are always pleased to see.”
