Fourth Queen’s Award for Oceanair
Oceanair and Turnstyle Designs have received a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.
This is the fourth time Oceanair has received the award – the company was previously recognised in 2001. 2005 and 2008.
Turnstyle Designs, that supplies handles and other hardware to the superyacht industry received the award in recognition of exceptional export sales.
The company exports to more than 40 countries with dealer partners in 21, the USA being the largest.
Export accounts for more than 70% of production.
“I am extremely proud that Turnstyle Designs has been selected for such a prestigious award,” said MD and founder Steve Roberts. “The award is in recognition of the whole company in every department and all their hard work as well as our hardworking partners and reps around the world who represent our line and look after our clients so well.”
The award was given for three years of rapid growth - a 17% increase over the period, with overall sales growth at 41%.
Oceanair was founded in 1990 and now employs more than 200 people.
The company is known for its bespoke blinds and soft furnishings, supplying to the superyacht, luxury home, commercial and recreational vehicle markets.
“2018 has been a fantastic year for Oceanair so far, having made substantial advances to our manufacturing facility, resulting in improved profits - the Holy Grail for any business,” said MD and former owner Andy FitzGerald.
“I am pleased that Oceanair is continuing to uphold a prominent position in UK business, showcasing the very best in local talent and capabilities. The Queens Award symbolises excellence and heritage; what an honour to have been awarded our fourth.”
