Bénéteau income from boats up 700%
Sailboats account for 44% of Bénéteau sales
Alongside growth of 16% for its boating businesses in the 2009/2010 year, the Bénéteau Group's income from boats has taken off to produce figures of more than 700% up over the previous 2008/2009 year.
FINANCIALS: France’s Bénéteau Group has just reported sales growth of 16.0 % from its boating businesses in the 2009/10 year. At the same time the group says its income from its boats has climbed by an astonishing 700% over the previous 2008/09 year.
Bénéteau's boat sales amounted to €573.5m for the year ending August 31, 2010 compared to €494.3m the previous year. Income from ordinary operations grew to €32.5m from a loss of €5.3m the year before. The operating margin in 2009/2010 was 5.7% compared to the 3.4% forecast.
The group says the significant improvement in profitability comes form the success of its new models and has been achieved following €3m of investment in the launch of Bénéteau's large motoryacht business.
The group confirms its targeted sales growth of 20% in 2011, but says the extent of the improvements will only be gauged after the winter shows. Sailboats represent 44% of Bénéteau's sales, motorboats 30% and leisure housing 26%.
