Clipper Telemed+TM christening
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston: “During the Clipper 13-14 Race the Praxes service proved invaluable through crew comfort and confidence"
CHRISTENING: ClipperTelemed+™, a joint venture between Clipper Ventures and Praxes Medical Group, has christened the yacht that will showcase its maritime-focused services globally during the 40,000 mile-long Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
The new telemedicine business, which was created following the Clipper 13-14 Race to provide 24/7 remote emergency and general medical support for all seafarers, christened Clipper 70 ocean-racing yacht in London’s St Katharine Docks.
“During the Clipper 13-14 Race the Praxes service proved
invaluable through crew comfort and confidence,” said Sir Robin Knox-Johnston,
chairman and founder, Clipper Race. “By the end of the circumnavigation it was
clear there was the need for their services for all seafarers as the number of
medevacs and in-port hospital visits were vastly reduced, as were insurance
John Hockin, vice president, marketing, Praxes added: “Crew on yachts, superyachts, commercial ships and exploration rigs can benefit from the service which uses advanced telemedicine methods from fully qualified emergency physicians within five minutes, wherever the casualty is located, in any language.”
The next Clipper Race starts in August 2015 and will be the event’s tenth edition.
