People are slowly recognising that lithium ion battery technology takes up less space, is lighter and more efficient.

The batteries also have more cycles and are quicker to charge.

This combined with the growing demand for more creature comforts on board houseboats means Aquafax will be showing the latest Mastervolt batteries at Crick Boat Show.

“The collection of positive outcomes of this technology means there’s more scope to deal with higher power demands,” explained product and marketing manager Richard Pardoe.

“People are more aware of battery technology. There’s plenty of people looking for more long-term power solutions.

“We’re also seeing more electric drive canal boats.”

Voltage sensing relay

Aquafax will also introduce Mastervolt’s ChargeMaster Plus battery charger that has a voltage sensing relay inside.

“It acts as a battery isolator between multiple battery banks. The ChargeMaster Plus will effectively pick up and prioritise the lowest battery first for charging and can be used as a split charging system for an alternator.”

The charger is multi voltage and has a smart input to charge three batteries from a single alternator.

Plastimo lifejackets

In addition, Aquafax will continue to promote safety and will show the latest Plastimo lifejackets.

“We do hear about people involved in incidents on canal boats, they do fall in,” said Richard.

“Years of development have gone into the Plastimo lifejacket and we want to promote them as an accessory that’s comfortable to wear not restricting movement allowing people to still carry out all the necessary activities.”

He added: “When things go wrong, they go wrong very quickly. If someone was unfortunate enough to fall in, it could be some time before they are noticed and someone is able to go back to get them.”

Aquafax also has dog buoyancy aids available that have a lifting handle to make it easier to retrieve the animal should it fall in.

The company’s technology team will be at the show to discuss any onboard power projects and any other boating needs.
