Bookings up by 50%

Bookings are up by 50% for Drifters Waterway Holidays in the wake of Channel 5’s Celebrity Carry on Barging programme.

And says Edward Helps, MD of ABC Boat Hire, a member of the Drifters Consortium, there has also been an uplift in web traffic of nearly 40%.

The company is not the only one to have benefitted with Black Prince Holidays, another Drifters member experiencing an uplift of 44% on web traffic and bookings up 41% compared to the same period as last year and Napton Narrowboats seeing bookings up 13%.

“Britain’s beautiful 3,000-mile network of inland waterways is in better shape than ever and we are delighted that programmes like Celebrity Carry on Barging and Channel 4’s Great Canal Journeys are introducing the benefits of canal boat holidays to a whole new audience,” said Mr Helps.

“Travelling at just 4mph through peaceful countryside, sleepy villages and vibrant waterside towns and cities, canal boat holidays are often described as ‘the fastest way to slow down’.”
