Mercator Media is to sponsor the Manufacturing Showcase stand at boat shows in the UK, starting with the PSP Southampton Boat Show in September. The stands will be branded as the ‘Boating Business Manufacturing Showcase’.

SHOWCASE: Cooney Marine has confirmed Mercator Media is to become the key sponsor of the Manufacturing Showcase Stand concepts for boat shows in the UK. The stands will be branded the ‘Boating Business Manufacturing Showcase’.

Cooney Marine organised a trial Manufacturing Showcase Stand at the 2010 London Boat Show for six key UK manufacturing supply chain companies. The companies involved represented a cross section of the UK marine supply chain.

The stand was managed by Nicola Charles PR, which provided representation for each of the companies during the show, enabling the companies to visit the show, but not be fixed to a stand, allowing freedom to network around the show area creating better utilisation of their time.

So successful was the trial that all the companies involved committed to the PSP Southampton Boat Show and shows beyond. Stands are currently booked at this year’s PSP Southampton Boat Show, the Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show and the Liverpool Boat Show in 2011.

‘We’re interested in SMEs that want to tackle more shows, or companies that would not normally have the time or knowledge to exhibit at large shows independently,’ said Nicola Charles. ‘We’re not taking exhibitors away from the show, but creating a collective of companies that want to become involved and grow, especially during these difficult current economic times.’

‘Operating the showcase stand in this way ensures that staffing time commitments are minimal and all stand information and costs are shared equally,’ said Andrew Sims of Cooney Marine. ‘The UK marine industry has to create opportunities for co-operation and the link with Mercator Media provides a stable platform for the concept to grow.’

Boating Business is always willing to help companies with their routes to market, so when Andy Sims asked us to become involved, we were only too happy to help,’ said BB editor Peter Nash.
