PSP Southampton Boat Show looms…
Fairline’s first boat under new management – the Targa 38 Gran Turismo
BOAT SHOW: The publicity for this year’s PSP Southampton Boat Show is now going strong, telling us the show is returning to Southampton’s Mayflower Park from 16-25 September, with an array of exhilarating activities.
There are the old favourites, such as Try A Boat – nominated as the show’s signature favourite. It’s back this year in association with onthewater.co.uk
As well as offering rides on RIBs powerboats and sailing yachts, this year visitors can book these rides in advance, choosing from three powerboats: the XS600 RIB, Ribcraft 8M RIB, and Rodman 800 powerboat.
Get Afloat is for those kids who want to try their hand at the action. Rockley Watersports staff will treat 8 – 16 year olds to a free 90 minute dinghy sailing lesson at the Versadock pontoon, complete with all equipment, right at the heart of the show.
Run by Andark Diving, Try A Dive is back with the chance for visitors of all ages to get in the water and experience the world of scuba diving.
The Southampton based charity, Active Nation, will be adding something new and interactive for all visitors. With an aim to get the nation off their sofas and into active hobbies, Active Nation and the “Active Zone” in the Arena area of the show, is an opportunity for visitors to have a go at a range of different activities to keep fit and healthy.
The Climbing Wall allows visitors of all ages to try climbing in a safe and ideal environment within the show on the special rotating climbing wall. Or head over to The Rolling Pool (provided by Villagio Limited) which offers miniature boat racing competitions and the opportunity to try out paddling skills in an inflatable kayak.
The Platinum Experience is back again to pamper the ladies with a luxury powerboat experience and access to the exclusive VIP lounge plus lunch and refreshments from just £105.
A quick delve into our PSP Southampton Boat Show preview folder reveals Raymarine is to launch a new product range, although they won’t tell us what it is. But with Flir and Tacktick as part of the company, it ought to be good.
And Fairline – recently acquired by Better Capital - is launching a hard top variant of its Targa 38 express cruiser range, the Targa 38 Gran Turismo.
Barton is launching High Load Eyes CNC milled in aluminium with Barton’s own Spectro grey hard anodising and the company also has its Dyneema Strop with High Load Eye. Digital Yacht is introducing an iPad and iPhone link for Raymarine systems, while Dometic will feature its new Dometic SMEV CU433 Moonlight Cooker.
Robert Underwood Multihulls will offer a whole host of information on Catana Catamarans, Sunreef Yachts and Fusion Catamarans. And all spaces in the Boating Business supported Marine Manufacturing Showcase are now fully taken up.
Lots more next month in our PSP Southampton Boat Show preview.
