Steve Roberts: 'gives me great pride'

AWARD: The annual Leslie Oliver Award was presented to Steve Roberts at the Yacht Designers & Surveyors Association (YDSA) Northern Forum, held at Ellesmere Port Boat Museum on 5 March 2009.

The award was introduced as far back as 1981 when the YDSA proposed an award to a recently elected member who was showing the most promise. The award was subsequently named after long standing YDSA member Leslie Oliver for his significant personal contribution to surveyor training.

‘Since joining the YDSA in 2004 I have tried to attend as many YDSA events as possible both locally and nationally,’ said Mr Roberts. ‘It may be coincidental that I have benefited from a steady increase in my survey work during this time, but I prefer to think that regularly meeting with fellow industry peers and improving my knowledge at these events has enabled me to become a better and more successful surveyor.’

Knowing that the nominations for this award came from other industry professionals gives me great pride.
