Brothers Mathew and John Hornsby set up Williams Performance Tenders with business partner Roy Parker in 2004. Just six years later, the company received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

QUEEN'S AWARD: Williams Performance Tenders was presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2010 in the international category on Friday August 13 at the company’s Oxfordshire factory.

The presentation was made by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, John Harwood, who stressed the award was very scarce, and presented to under 150 companies in the UK.

‘You can be rightly and justifiably proud of receiving this award,’ he told the assembled Williams workforce. ‘You’re a very new organisation and very few companies are recognised this early in their lives.’

In reply, Williams’ chairman, Roy Parker, assured the Vice Lord Lieutenant: ‘We’ll get another one very soon.’

‘We are hugely proud of our team and the work that’s gone into achieving this recognition,’ said joint MD Mathew Hornsby, ‘so it was great to be able to celebrate with them at our official presentation ceremony.'
