Many skippers will have experienced situations whereby the windscreens of the wheelhouse are steamed up and the view is impaired. Such situations are nerve-racking and rather dangerous and might even lead to marine accidents. The solution is quite clearly; the installation of a demister.
This device is able to clear the windscreens within less than 30 seconds and will keep them absolutely clear for as long as required. The HFL demister is a small device which can be installed below the dashboard. Air from the wheelhouse is drawn in and heated up through electric heating elements and then distributed via four small flexible tubes. The air outlets could be nozzles which spray the air at wide angles over the screen. Different solutions are available.
The demister is powered by 220 V, 50Hz, single phase, however for special applications models with DC power can be manufactured. Apart from separate installations the demister can be installed in conjunctions with an airconditioner. This would even enhance the speed in which the windows are cleared. The dimensions are small and the created noise is unobtrusive.
