River Canal Rescue is a top employer

Stafford-based breakdown and emergency assistance firm River Canal Rescue (RCR) has been named a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer in the annual list compiled by the National Apprenticeship Service.
The firm was recognised for its high standards of excellence in employing apprentices – who account for nearly 60% of its 33-strong workforce – at the National Apprenticeship Awards final.
RCR was put forward for inclusion on England’s Top 100 list – joining organisations such as BAE, Travis Perkins, Mercedes, ARUP, Centrica and Sellafield - after being named the Medium Employer of the Year 2016 at the North West National Apprenticeship Awards last year.
“To have our three-year apprenticeship programme recognised and rewarded at a national level is a huge achievement for us,” said RCR MD Stephanie Horton. “Without apprentices our business would never have been able to grow the way it has.
“The intensity of our mentoring, education and investment in specialist training and well-being means all apprentices have a depth of understanding and commitment to RCR that is impossible to ‘buy in’. We’re very proud to be on the list with such high-profile organisations and this gives us huge confidence for the future.”
