Our incident reporting programme is unique for 4 reasons: we focus on the under-lying Human Factors; we are confidential; we are independent; we follow up reports with the organisations concerned.

We welcome safety-related reports from anywhere in the world and from all parts of the maritime industry including commercial seafarers, fishers, recreational and leisure mariners, and anyone who works in a port or harbour. We also welcome reports from members of the public who use ports, harbours or maritime transport (eg ferry and cruise vessel passengers).

We never  reveal the identities of our reporters, and as soon as our investigations are complete, we permanently delete their personal details from our database. This means that you can raise safety concerns without fear of your identity being revealed to your peer group, line managers or the company you work for. We do not normally act upon anonymous reports.

Our reporting portal and our safety editorials can be found online at https://www.chirp.co.uk/maritime and through social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter). Additionally this content can be delivered straight into your pocket via our recently-launched app which is available on both Android and Apple stores.

Both the website and app can be accessed in a number of common seafarer languages in order to make our safety messages relevant and understandable to as many seafarers as possible.
