ErgoFit+ lifejacket has a halo hood system
Crewsaver’s new ErgoFit+ lifejacket, due to arrive in March, is the result of more than 60 years of lifejacket development.
The lifejacket includes a built-in spray hood to enhance a wearer’s safety, increasing visibility, retaining heat and protecting the airway to reduce the risk of water inhalation.
The hood system is inspired by product developments for the aviation market as well as the search and rescue organisation, Les Sauveteurs en Mer (SNSM).
“We work closely with organisations across a variety of sectors to constantly drive forward the safety technology used in our products,” said Crewsaver’s head of design, Nigel Parkes.
“When we develop a new feature, we are quick to look at where else this feature can be utilised to advance our other product ranges.
“The journey of the halo hood system from its aviation origin, to adapting for SNSM’s bespoke lifejacket and now our new ErgoFit+ is a perfect example of this.”
Once deployed, the self-supporting hood forms a chamber above the wearer’s face.
It includes an internal barrier to protect wearers against water ingress, while doubling up as an anti-glare panel to shield a wearer’s eyes from the flashing lifejacket light.
The ErgoFit+ is designed to rotate a wearer quickly and sculpted shaping around the shoulders has been developed for improved in-water mobility.
In addition, the jacket incorporates a new buckle system.
Exposure’s portable crew tracking and overboard location alert system, the OLAS Tag, can be integrated into the jacket.
