Balpha Mast has developed its foldaway Balpha Mast system for sailing yachts.

The Balpha Mast system makes it easier for yachts to reach destinations not normally accessible for sailing boats and enables controlled handling of a trailer sailer.

"While fixed mast systems are designed specifically for yacht performance, the foldaway Balpha Mast will give balanced control for its endless applications," explained Balpha Mast inventor and MD Stuart Balfour.

"To lower and raise a mast when underway will totally transform a yachting experience. Air draught, rigging adjustments, maintenance, repairs, winter storage and transportation are all less restrictive and costly."

Advantages include easy lowering and stowing of the mast before trailering, single hand operation and less time handling to enable more time on the water.

Balpha Mast can retro-fit existing designs or complement new builds up to 8m.

The system has been developed following 12 months collaborative design and construction at Ceilidh Composite Technologies BV.
