2020 Poole boat show cancelled
Poole Harbour Boat Show 2020 has been cancelled by show organisers, Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC), due to coronavirus fears.
The show was due to take place from 12th to 14th June on Poole Quay, but will instead now return in 2021.
“The boat show has been a huge success over the past five years,” said Jim Stewart, PHC CEO.
“However, the current coronavirus threat has raised many concerns. Deferring a decision to go ahead could potentially add to existing uncertainty and therefore PHC has decided that it would be prudent to cancel now and focus on our key harbour and port roles and responsibilities.”
He added: “We know that many attendees and exhibitors will be disappointed, however the Poole Harbour Boat Show will return in 2021.”
And he said coronavirus has created considerable uncertainty with the long-term impact of the virus remaining unknown.
“Pressures on the resources of all businesses across the marine industry and beyond are high and planning for the coming months has become very difficult,” added Jim.
“The decision to cancel the show has not been taken lightly, however in order to pro-vide clarity for everyone involved, the difficult decision has been made.”
The show usually attracts around 30,000 visitors. The 2021 show will take place from 11th to 13th June.
