James Bond style RIB to launch in Wales
A James Bond-style amphibious RIB that uses a four-wheel drive to enter and leave the sea will be making its European debut in North Wales.
The £220,000 AMP RIB has wheels on legs that drop down to enable the craft to drive out of the sea and up the beach. It will be brought to the All Wales Boat and Leisure Show by Pwllheli and Southampton-based Ideal Boat, which has designed bespoke versions of the vessel with Ocean Craft Marine that supplies rigid inflatables for the military and law enforcement agencies world-wide.
“It’s a quality rigid inflatable boat with seating that can cope with bad seas if necessary and has an onboard 35hp Vanguard engine as well as the 4wd hydraulic legs which enables it to be driven on dry land,” said Ideal Boat MD, Neville Williams. “It’s very James Bond; it’s very glamourous and a lot of fun.”
Ideal Boat will also show some of their other brands at the show including Chaparral, Finnmaster, Husky, Robalo, Spectre and Capelli.
Show organiser Davina Carey-Evans, who is MD of Beaumaris-based Sbarc Event Management, said this year’s show will include a strong leisure element and its new location of Anglesey Showground is expected to help turn the island into a major events hub.
The show will take place from May 30 to June 1.
