New sustainable luxury exhibition
A new, 'luxury' exhibition dedicated to inspirational materials for yacht building will take place at Metstrade 2018.
MaterialDistrict will be located at the Construction Material Pavilion (CMP) with 12 partners and an exhibition of 120 especially selected materials. It is being organised by the global platform for innovative materials, MaterialDistrict.
The examples and references in the exhibition aim to show that intelligent, biobased and recycled materials can be beautiful and luxurious. Recycled felt, recycled leather, lightweight composites made of hemp, wooden textiles and acoustic wool will be just some of the innovative ‘good’ materials on show at the exhibition.
MaterialDistrict’s creative director Els Zijlstra will focus on new luxury and discuss how luxury is not about the bling anymore, but about real, custom-made, personal materials and products that are good in every sense of the word.
CMF trend forecaster and owner of RNA Design Anouk Groen will talk about trends in colour, material, finish and market movements.
MVAVD’s Marcel Vroom will also cover materials as interfaces, discussing how products will become systems of functional layers that interact with people and their environments. He will say that these materials will not only be applied in smart products, but also in architecture and public spaces.
