First Seawork WIMI
Registration is open for the first Women in the Marine Industry networking event to be held at Seawork.
The event is sponsored by Barton Marine and will offer women working in the commercial marine industry the opportunity to get together, network and hear about key industry developments.
It will include a short presentation by Katy Ware, director of maritime safety and standards and permanent representative of the UK to the IMO, Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
“We are very proud that Barton Marine is sponsoring the first Seawork reception for Women in Marine Industry, specific to the commercial marine sector,” said Suzanne Blaustone, CEO, Barton Marine Equipment.
Meet and network
“Working within commercial marine can present its own unique set of challenges for women, so this opportunity for attendees to meet and network with each other and hear from speakers who will share their maritime experiences will be beneficial to us all.”
She added: “We look forward to welcoming women from every marine sector including design, equipment, work boat production and crew, sales, marketing and journalism.”
The International Maritime Organisation runs a global programme on the Integration of Women in the Maritime Sector and is making a concerted effort to support the industry to help women achieve a representation within it that is more in keeping with twenty-first century expectations.
Barton Marine's dedicated industrial projects team has more than 60 years’ experience in custom built solutions for all types of industry, supplying some of the leading companies in the maritime, communications, material handling and utilities industries.
The event will take place on Wednesday July 4 from 15.30 – 17.00 in the Maritime Journal Lounge, Atlantic Hall, Seawork International.
