Falmouth-based Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding will be unveiling the latest version of its Duchy 35 at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show powered by Borrow a Boat.

The boatyard’s latest customisation of its Duchy 35 now also comes with two double cabins transforming the boat into a family cruiser.

“The Duchy 35 is for cruising and relaxing, and offers unrivalled seakeeping with style,” explained founder and managing director, Dave Cockwell. “The twin cabin layout transforms the boat into a comfortable family cruiser with a galley located in the spacious saloon and two double berths below.”

“The shower compartment offers generous headroom and a full-width electric sunroof enables you to take in panoramic sea views from all-round windows. Your choice of hardwood joinery, electronics, butter-soft leather upholstery and features to enhance your comfort, such as a gyro stabiliser, complete the picture, providing the perfect choice for both nautical novice and seasoned sailor.”

Mediterranean cruising

As well as the new twin-cabin layout, Cockwells has made other adaptations to its range including a recently-launched Duchy 35 clad in teak and with a walnut interior and a white-hulled Duchy 35, specifically designed for the Mediterranean, with sunbeds, air-conditioned saloon, electric Bimini and bathing platform.

Further concepts on the Duchy 35 drawing board are a flybridge option offering more space with further seating that converts into sunbeds, a folding Bimini, table and tender storage and, for Scandinavian shores, an aft windlass for bow-to mooring, a pulpit with a gate and a bow passerelle or ladder.

“The flexibility of Cockwells’ Duchy Motor Launches drive the popularity of this well-established brand, offering all the benefits of a custom-build without the high-end price tag,” said Mr Cockwell.

SIBS runs from 13 – 22 September. Cockwells will be exhibiting on stand M101 in the Marina.
