Contra-rotating propellers provide thrust
Suzuki’s newest outboard will be shown at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show, powered by Borrow a Boat.
The new DF300B has a maximum output of 300PS and features many of Suzuki’s latest technologies, including the company’s dual prop system, which converts engine output into forward thrust by combining two contra-rotating propellers.
Other features include two-stage gear reduction, in which the gear ratio is first reduced in between the crankshaft and the driveshaft and then reduced again within the gear case for high propulsion power meaning it can be rigged onto heavier boats.
“The DF300B is the latest addition to our GEKI series of dual-propeller outboards and reinforces Suzuki’s position at the forefront of the large horsepower outboard market,” said Daisuke Kawatari, general manager for Suzuki Motor Corporation’s European Liaison Office. “We are confident that the DF300B will be a popular model in the European market and that it will make the benefits of the dual-propeller technology available to a new range of boats and customers.”
