Electric engines form part of sustainability revolution
Torqeedo, will show its latest battery – the Power 48-5000 at this year’s TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show.
The high-performance lithium, 5,000Wh battery weighs 36.5kg and has a battery management system with integrated protection against overcharging, short circuit, deep
discharge, polarity reversal, overheating and submersion. The unit is waterproof to IP67.
“Electric boating is a part of the larger sustainability revolution that is affecting almost every aspect of our lives,” said Torqeedo’s UK sales manager, John Arnold.
Among the engines on display will be Torqeedo’s Travel 1003, the company’s alternative to a 3hp petrol outboard that is suitable for boats up to 1.5 tons.
Also on the stand will be the Cruise 10.0R, equivalent to a 20hp motor and the Cruise 2.0 and 4.0 models, both of which are available in tiller or remote-steering variants.
Torqeedo’s Ultralight 403 C is a new, longer-running model of the company’s smallest electric outboard with integrated lithium battery and the Cruise Fixed Pod range offers propulsion in the 5 to 20hp range.
Torqeedo will be on stand B080.
