Garmin to show its latest range in Southampton
Garmin International will be showing its latest marine products at this year’s Southampton International Boat Show powered by Borrow a Boat.
On show will be the new Force trolling motor, the GPSMAP 8400 series, the Echomap Ultra series and the latest Bluechart G3 cartography as well as the Panoptix Livescope.
Force trolling motor
A brushless motor means that the new Force freshwater trolling motor can operate with almost undetectable levels of sonar and steering noise. It is also the first trolling motor to include built-in Garmin CHIRP traditional and Ultra High-Definition ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonars.
Force is said to be 30% more powerful than existing freshwater trolling motors and operates at either 36V or 24V.
Available in 10, 12 and 16in displays that feature in-plane switching screens with multi-touch control, the GPSMAP 8400/8400xsv series is Wi-Fi enabled and fully customisable.
The screen can be seen from all viewing angles, even with polarised sunglasses and the processing power enables all onboard sensors such as sonar, radar, cameras, video and digital switching. SmartMode gives the user one-touch access to information and control of systems such as docking, cruising, fishing, and anchoring.
The GPSMAP 8400/8400xsv series also supports OneHelm, enabling the control of onboard systems such as digital switching, lighting and stabilisation from a single display.
ECHOMAP Ultra is a new line of keyed-assist 10 and 12in touchscreen chartplotters with built-in support for Garmin’s Ultra High-Definition scanning sonar as well as the Panoptix LiveScope series, including the new single-array LVS12, that delivers live scanning sonar images of structure, bait and fish swimming below and around the boat in real time.
Both models are available bundled with the new Ultra High-Definition GT54UHD-TM all-in-one transducer that provides ClearVü and SideVü scanning sonar images.
BlueChart g3 and BlueChart g3 Vision are new cartography products for coastal and inland boating. Both offer Auto Guidance2 to create suggested routes based upon the user’s desired depth and overhead clearance.
Panoptix LiveScope is a live scanning sonar and features two modes in one transducer – LiveScope Down and LiveScope Forward – and can be installed on a trolling motor or the transom. Either view provides real-time scanning sonar images up to 200 feet down or away from the boat and the sonar is also equipped with an attitude heading reference system to compensate for boat motion.
The show takes place from September 13 to 22.
