Retractable thruster system to be launched by Quick
Quick will host the world launch of its new BTQ140 retractable thruster system at TheYachtMarket.com Southampton Boat Show.
The thruster range - which also includes the original 185mm and 250mm versions - was developed to guarantee the same performance as a tunnel thruster.
“It has the advantage of avoiding a hull’s fluid resistance being disadvantaged during navigation,” said Andrew Sims Quick UK MD.
“The thruster opens when operated during mooring and retracts when it is not in use, thus perfectly recreating the hull form.”
The latest 140 product provides a compact 12v powered unit with either 20 or 40 KGF of thrust and is suitable for smaller performance sail boats, with forward and or aft installation possible.
The thruster is constructed using a combination of composites, aluminium, 316 stainless steel plus nibral. The flange is separated from the systems’ carrying structure to ensure an easy and safe installation for installers.
