Luxury teak wood canoe
Italian design company BorromeodeSilva has produced a luxury canoe with a copper-woven carbon fibre and teak wood hull.
The Monococque Paddle Canoe uses copper wire weaved in the carbon to give depth to the texture of the vessel, while the teak deck is hand-laid by artisans in Genoa, Italy.
Milan-based BorromeodeSilva stated on its website: “With this canoe, we wanted to showcase our ability to mix traditional craftsmanship and highly technical processes and materials.”
The company aimed to create a finished product that is luxurious and stylish but technically strong, durable and light.
The streamlined design provides a place to tuck away the oars on the side. This, said BorromeodeSilva, is a subtle homage to the fins on a Cadillac.
A small electric motor is currently being integrated into the one-off vessel, which may be commercially produced in the future, the company speculated.
