UK distributor appointed for Weld Mount
Kommerling UK has appointed Albert Jagger as distributor for its Weld Mount range of bonding and sealing products.
The system uses acrylic adhesives formulated to be used with other products from the range. They are high strength/high viscosity methacrylate’s with strength in both tensile and shear.
“The UK luxury yacht market now has a far better understanding of and confidence in the benefits and performance gains when using a bonding agent compared to more traditional, mechanical methods,” said Ian Little, Kommerling UK, business manager. “Surface bonding eliminates drilling holes into the core which eliminates the danger of delamination due to water intrusion.
“In addition, Weld Mount fasteners are stronger and eradicate the need to glass in wood or other materials just to have a mounting surface.”
He added: “This saves significant labour, time and expense and reduces the weight of the vessel. Often welding is not a viable alternative due to fire hazards and it may also result in warpage and discoloration of the metal, which can be difficult if not impossible to remove."
The Weld Mount range also includes adhesives and ancillary products including its AT-2010 adhesive and AT-8040, a solvent free, VOC compliant, two-part methacrylate-based, structural adhesive formulated to bond metals that will be subject to severe environmental conditions.
