Controller gives up to 20% more energy
A new multi power point tracking charge controller designed to give boat owners up to 20% more energy from their existing solar panels has been launched by Solar Technology International.
The PV Logic MPPT Pro is a 15amp solar charge controller with single or dual battery charging capabilities.
The device can increase the charging capability of any 12V or 24V solar panel (up to 220W) by as much as 20% per day through its ability to map the voltage from the solar panel to suit the condition of the battery.
“The MPPT Pro is a great addition to our PV Logic range,” explained Jeremy Usher, Solar Technology marine sales manager. “We are seeing more and more boat owners take advantage of the benefits solar energy to power onboard devices without the dirt and noise of traditional petrol and diesel generators.
“The addition of the MPPT Pro means they can gain extra power with just one simple to use, compact device.”
The controller has built-in Bluetooth technology and has free Apple and android apps to provide access to charging data via a mobile phone.
The app also features three pre-set programmes for sealed, gel and flooded batteries plus a customisable profile for other battery types.
An additional activity monitor can be attached to the controller through a 5m link cable to display PV performance.
