Garmin chosen for a fourth time
Gamin is to return as an official supplier for the 2019-20 edition of The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
This is the fourth edition of the race to feature Garmin that will provide GPS navigation, radar, communication and wind data technology to the 11 yachts as they race around the world.
“As race director, I always want the fleet to be equipped with the best and most sophisticated equipment possible and Garmin fulfils that brief,” said Clipper’s Mark Light.
“They are world leaders in navigational equipment and by adding the new chart plotter to the helm station, we are making the fleet more competitive than ever before, whilst still ensuring efficient and safe racing.”
Mattias Daldbord, Garmin EMEA marketing and communications manager marine, added: “The global communication strategy of the Clipper Race enables us to communicate and engage with a global audience with all that Garmin has to offer in marine electronics.”
Around 700 amateur sailors from 44 different countries will take part in the race – the 12th edition of the biennial ocean race.
The teams will begin their circumnavigation at St Katharine Docks on September 1.
