Vesper Marine evolves touchscreen Class B AIS transponder offering
Marine safety company Vesper Marine has evolved its touchscreen Class B AIS transponder offering with the introduction of a new product which it claims will be the most advanced on the market.
The WatchMate Vision2 has a new look, with a seamless black-bezel front panel and glossy black sides and features a highly responsive, easy to use capacitive touchscreen, allowing users to change alarm settings and more with the gentlest of touches.
“Already packed with life saving features like smartAIS alarms, DSC calling and faster GPS, we have enhanced the user experience with an easy to use touchscreen, faster Wi-Fi, more Wi-Fi connections and a brighter display,” said Jeff Robbins, CEO, Vesper Marine.
Driven by award-winning smartAIS technology, Vision2 combines navigation sensor data, GPS and AIS information with intelligent alert logic and triggers alarms in the event of hazardous situations.
While traditional AIS transponders only send and receive AIS signals, Vesper Marine’s smartAIS units continuously calculate crossing situations and generate collision alarms for navigation action and MOB situations.
In addition to the audible alarm, the Vision2’s built-in NMEA gateway and Wi-Fi capability can communicate alerts as well as all transponder information to a user’s Android or iOS smartphone, tablet or smartwatch using the WatchMate or deckWatch apps.
The Vision2 comes with the first ever hardware upgrade meaning that existing Vision customers can upgrade to the new Vision2 smartAIS transponder from July 2018.
