Engines promise low-end torque
Mercury Marine has introduced a new line of three litre diesel engines for sterndrive, inboard and water-jet applications.
The engines have been developed and tested over the last three years and are
available in 230hp and 270hp. A 150hp version is expected to be available at a later date.
“We are excited to offer our customers a product line that they can use to satisfy the market demand for diesel power in these key horsepower categories,” said Kris Neff, Mercury Marine, vice president of global category management and strategic planning.
“There is an active segment of the boating market that requires the impressive low-end torque and exceptional durability of our diesel engines and these new engines enhance our already class-leading portfolio of diesel propulsion systems.”
The engines comply with Tier three emissions standards and are compatible with Mercury SmartCraft technologies,
The engine uses a new water-cooled, variable-geometry turbocharger and common-rail fuel delivery to provide performance and improvements in acceleration and top speeds.
