Hybrid propulsion benefits leisure market
With its range of complete integrated power solutions and specialist technical support, Fischer Panda UK is bringing the advantages and capabilities of hybrid diesel electric propulsion to the smaller commercial and leisure market.
The company has expanded its portfolio to develop a full-package option for customers that incorporates either a Fischer Panda electric drive system or Bellmarine system, a range-extending AGT DC genset or AC generator and a Mastervolt battery management system.
Fischer Panda is able to customise the right system for virtually any craft from basic low-cost power drives charged via shore power only to full hybrid systems linked to its generators.
As Chris Fower, Fischer Panda UK sales and marketing director explained, this offers benefits to boat owners and OEMs.
“The Fischer Panda hybrid systems are quiet and cost-effective with improved fuel efficiency, simple to operate and easy to maintain,” he said. “They can also offer more design flexibility for layout and a reduced impact on the environment.”
He added: “Electric power can provide all the power and manoeuvrability needed for cruising, with batteries charged through the on-board charger when connected to shore power.”
In addition, Chris explained, the Fischer Panda Whisperprop and Bellmarine electric propulsion systems dramatically reduce annual maintenance costs over standard petrol or diesel engines.
“Boat owners are looking to tap in to the fuel and cost savings and quiet cruising offered by electric drive systems, plus the environmental benefits are also a significant factor.
“We’ve strengthened our range of technically-advanced systems to meet this need, using our many years of experience in the marine and automobile, field.”
