MarQuip's new exhaust system is designed to ensure all yachts above 24m meet new IMO Tier III regulations limiting NOx emissions.

The regulations are already in place for large vessels with an engine output of 130 kW or more. From 2021 these same regulations will come into force for all yachts above 24m, regardless of volume.

Integrated water-injection system

MarQuip believes its new system is the most compact system for yachts under 500GT or 50m. Coming ready for installation and with ISO14001:2015 certification, it meets the challenges of available space on smaller yachts by integrating its water-injection system inside the SCR/silencer unit.

The company provides an example of a 27.7m semi-displacement hull with 1432 bKW MTU engines. The maximum system back pressure is 80 mBar with a maximum gas temperature of 6000°C. With overall dimensions of 2300mm by 1400mm by 680mm, it will have four supports and a total noise reduction of 50 dB(A).
