Power and propulsion company, Q-Marine International, has released its next generation of Q-SPD surface drives.

The redesign of the original Q-SPD systems incorporates the same construct as the original SD series plus refinements in function, form and performance.

“We are finding that Q-SPD is what the commercial and work boat vessels are choosing to use purely for the reliability and longevity of the Q-SPD System," explained Q-Marine International MD, Leigh Michau. "Q-SPD has proven to endure thousands of hours without significant servicing requirements giving the end user added benefits.”

Designed for longevity

And he explained that the latest Q-SPD surface drive is a fully integrated propulsion solution designed for maximum longevity. Q-SPD’s construction is largely composite, the main housing is moulded from e-glass and carbon-fibre then reinforced in an epoxy matrix, using resin infusion manufacturing techniques.

Said to be more than 50% lighter than other the system now offers a steering package by Hypro Marine on all systems. There are also custom exhausts options available.

Q-SPD surface drives are transom mounted and all housing of mechanics and components is protected from the marine environment. Installation is via a bolt-in system and twin rudder design is standard.

The new series is suited to vessels from 8m with power options from 180hp to 3600hp or for vessels up to 100 tonnes.
